Congratulations to the Cincinnati Museum Center on their recent award as the 2009 National Medal for Museum and Library Service, the nation’s highest honor for museums and libraries. The award is given by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and recognizes institutions for outstanding social, educational, environmental or economic contributions to their communities.
Housed in a National Historic Landmark—the Art Deco train station—the Cincinnati Museum Center is a valuable Ohio tourism destination. The Museum Center features the Cincinnati History Museum; Duke Energy Children’s Museum; Museum of Natural History and Science; the Robert D. Lindner Family OMNIMAX Theatre; the Cincinnati Historical Society Library and Archives; the Geier Family Collections and Research Center; and the Richard and Lucile Durrell Edge of Appalachia Preserve. The Museum Center was recently recognized by Forbes Traveler as the 17th most visited museum in the nation, welcoming more than 1.3 million visitors every year.
